CHKD Family Room Bags
The family room at CHKD NICU is provided to families when their baby is extremely sick or does not have a good prognosis. We had access to this room all day and this was were we were able to escape the noise of the NICU when we had hard decisions to make, when my nurse came to do my check ups, where I pumped, Trav was able to take a quick nap and shower …. and eventually where we were able to bring Isaiah to hold him for the first and last time, where his grandparents met and held him, where we truly were able to admire his features, love on him, pray over him, worship and then walk him through the gates of heaven.
While we were still in the NICU with Bryce, I had the idea that I would like to donate items that we needed to families who also use this room - food, water, shower/bathroom items, coffee, etc. The chaplain loved the idea and we got to work! Eventually they had the idea that they would like to redo the room - paint, update the decor, add a c-section friendly chair, etc. and they asked me to help, which was such an honor. We chose the paint colors, chair (which is so comfy!), etc.
We unofficially call it “Isaiah’s Room.”

We are so grateful for the opportunity to help Chaplain A.K. on with these rooms, it did my heart so much good doing it and finally being able to see it was special!
